Wine Tanks made of #concrete?!!
Many of us think that vessels for fermentation should be glass, ceramic or enamel (glass surface on metal).
But cement, especially for large tanks, it is a reliable choice, too. This material is pretty close to ceramic, it is more affordable and there are coatings that are well proven over time to be compatible with wine. Cement also acts as a temperature stabilizer, a thermal flywheel. It keeps the contents cooler on a hot day and warmer on a cold night..

The construction of the winery was assigned to a French construction company, as the material of reinforced concrete was unknown in Greece in the early 1930’s. The wine factory was pioneering for that era; it was the first time in Greece that huge concrete tanks were used for the winemaking process.
